My work is multidisciplinary.
My approach to visual storytelling is multidisciplinary, using a blend scenic, video, digital and graphic design. I am interested in the systems thinking of creating visual language and dramaturgy with a variety of tools. I firmly believe in design having a central role in the creation of new work, and love to collaborate in teams where there is a generosity of ideas, and free communication between creative teams.
I am driven by storytelling that centres the marginalised, and brings together the playful and the political.
I am passionate about creating work that not only increases the representation of marginalised groups on stage and on camera, but also actively engages artists from those communities in the development and creation of their own stories. My current interests are in pursuing work that challenges the Hostile Environment, that explores the breadth of untapped magic in South Asian identity, that reverses the erasure of black and brown faces in the history books.
I am fascinated by how technology informs and evolves the craft of storytelling. My postgraduate study at the Royal College of Art was focused on the Future of Storytelling, exploring motion capture and dance, VR and music, AR and Set Design. I draw heavily on my interests in video games and generative art for inspiration, and I am always looking for opportunities to experiment with new mediums.
I love to experiment with form, and find new futures in craft.
My undergraduate was in Mechanical Engineering. My postgraduate in Global Innovation Design. I’ve studied in London, Tokyo and New York.
I teach. I have produced a lot of my early work. I love to think about systems, power structures, arts leadership and political movements.
